Location

is part of Elgieyo-Marakwet District, one of the 14 districts forming the
Rift Valley Province in western Kenya. The district is
bordered by West Pokot on

and Baringo to the east. The total area of the district is 1832
square miles, which constitutes about 0.4 % of the total area of Kenya, (228,220
sq. mi. or about the size of Texas. Kenya is located on the
eastern coast of Africa, south of Sudan and east of
Uganda.
To Help
Educate Indigenous Pastors
The local churches cannot even pay salaries to
their current pastors let alone educate more. The rapid growth
of churches and large numbers who are coming to Christ create a
demand for more pastors
and
leaders. Some of the pastors serve ten or more churches. It
costs $1500.00 per year to educate one pastor at a Theological
school in Kenya. Our goal is to help provide financial
assistance to students.
To Help Equip Local Pastors to Reach the Unreached in Their
Community
Keiyo Soy Ministries is
responding to a serious need to equip the indigenous pastors who
serve over one hundred churches located in
the dry, barren areas of Keiyo Region. These pastors serve with the
already established indigenous churches of the Africa
Inland Church. Their efforts
to reach the unreached are hindered by severe economic
limitations and lack of materials. We plan to provide Christian
materials and seminars to assist in training local pastors.
To
Provide A System For Clean Drinking Water
Many along the Valley are
drinking from and bathing in the same water as their animals.
The use of unclean water from the river leads to many illnesses.
Since much of this region has not had sufficient rain three or
four years, many who travel long distances with cattle find only
dry river beds. We plan to provide clean drinking water through
a gravity based drainage system from a water source high in the
mountains above Keiyo Valley.
To Help
Provide An Emergency Vehicle
Medical Facilities are non existent in most of
the dry, barren areas in Keiyo valley. Sickness and disease take
advantage of the already
vulnerable people. The sick either walk or are carried by
friends or relatives many
miles for medical care and the majority of them do not
reach their destination in time. No one of the pastors serving
all the existing churches has a vehicle. Funds are needed to buy
an emergency vehicle to
transport the sick to the nearest medical facility. A
long term goal is to assist in establishing more health care
clinics.
